Happy Birthday

Balam Bali Villa welcomes Belgium
13-07-2011

Three Belgian couples stayed ten days at Balam Bali Villa. They are friends and wanted to discover Bali. The beauty of the Island and the numerous excursions including the visit of the lake Batur inside of the crater and the walks in the rice fields made them happy. It was also Galungan time, the most important feast for Balinese.

One of the wives asked us, “It’s my husband’s birthday tomorrow. Could you organise a little surprise?”

The following day, the whole group headed to Penglipuran, one of the most spectacular villages in Bali to attend Galungan celebration. For this occasion, they wore a sarong. Their visit ended with a walk in the quiet bamboo forest.

In the evening, a dinner was served near the pool. The main course was Sate lilit, or chicken satay using fresh lemon grass as skewers. The moment was cheerful. Wines are good. And then came the little surprise, a cheesecake à la chef. The staff members were invited to share the cake.

A cheesecake à la chef indeed. One month ago, Balam Bali Villa had had the opportunity to welcome a “guest star”, Teguh, a pastry chef who had been working many year at the Ritz Carlton. He had trained our chefs, Senna and Agus, some of his favourite recipes. From now one, the cheesecake is part of our menu, as well as our home made vanilla ice cream and our famous chocolate cake.
